| The employment of air forces, supported by ground and naval forces, as appropriate, to achieve military objectives in vital airspace areas. Such operations include destruction of enemy air and surface-to-air forces, interdiction of enemy air operations, protection of vital air lines of communications, and the establishment of local military superiority in areas of air operations.
