vertical landing zone
A specified ground area for landing vertical takeoff and landing aircraft to embark or disembark troops and/or cargo. A landing zone may contain one or more landing sites. Also called VLZ. See also landing zone; vertical takeoff and landing aircraft. (JP 3-02)
